Yesterday it was 70 years ago Japan’s occupation of Korea unfortunately begun it was a later part of the Meiji restoration which begun in 1876. Emperor Meiji’s Japanese name was Mutshuhito. Korea’s fate or last hope for freedom ended in 1905 with the Japan-Korea treaty of 1905 which gave Japan the right to annex Korea.
Emperor Meiji was the Emperor of Japan and Korea from 1905-1912. Followed by Emperor Taisho 1912-1926 and lastly Emperor Showa 1926-1947.
The first president of the Korean Republic was 이승만 from 1948-1960 he served a total of three terms as Korea’s president. He was a Methodist and member of the Liberal party. He resumed from office as president in 1960 and unfortunately passed away only five years later. He was the man responsible or involved in the Korean War since he was president of Korea at the time. Syngman Rhee died from a stroke in 1965.
