Korean heritage (names)

As a Korean adoptee, I confess that I’m rather fascinated with Korean names.. before I had decided on what new name I’d prefer. I spent hours upon hours on the Internet searching for Korean names. Some of them are very beautiful and carries a meaning. Some names are unisex (like most Korean names) these days. I do know that Hwa is more common for girls since it presumely means flower, not that I don’t think a boy can’t be called a flower.

I’m pretty sure that the name Hyung means boy or son even though many girls have a name with Hyung … Hyun can apparently be used as a boys’ name but these days many girls can be given it to. The truth is most Korean names are unisex and can be used for both boys and girls although giving a son a more feminine name might result in him being teased…
